Federal Government is backing a new national compendium that will document investment and tourism opportunities across Nigeria’s 36 states and the FCT, as part of efforts to reposition the country’s global image.
This was contained in a statement signed and issued by Special Assistant, Media, to the Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Rabiu Ibrahim.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made this known on Tuesday when he received a delegation from the Nigerian Press Council [NPC] at Radio House, Abuja.
The delegation briefed him ahead of the publication’s official launch set for 17 June 2026 at the Presidential Villa.
“This project is timely and strategic,” Idris said. “At a time when some focus only on negative narratives about Nigeria, this compendium will highlight the enormous economic and tourism potential that exist across all 36 states and the FCT.”
The publication aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly efforts to diversify the economy through tourism, culture, and the non-oil sector, the minister added. He noted that the project reflects the administration’s push to attract investment beyond oil by providing credible, state-by-state data to investors, diplomatic missions, and development partners.
Idris commended the collaboration between the NPC, Nigerian Tourism Development Authority [NTDA], the Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, and other stakeholders.
He assured the ministry’s full support for the launch and acknowledged Vice President Kashim Shettima’s role in giving the initiative national backing.
NPC Executive Secretary Dr. Dili Ezughah said the compendium was conceived to promote inter-agency collaboration in projecting Nigeria positively.
He said the document would serve as a reference for investors, chambers of commerce, and Nigerians in the diaspora.
Lead Consultant Tajudeen Toyin-oke said the compendium includes detailed profiles on investment opportunities, tourism assets, mineral resources, infrastructure, population data, and tax incentives for each state and the FCT.
NTDA Director-General Dr. Ola Awakan described it as a major step to promote Nigeria’s cultural and tourism heritage internationally.
President Tinubu is expected to write the foreword, while Vice President Shettima will write the preface. The launch is expected to draw governors, diplomats, investors, and development partners.
