Against the backdrop of celebration of year’s Christmas and New Year amid the prevailing heightened security challenges in the land, Abuja residents have been urged to stand in solidarity with the government, in order to tackle the meance.

Also, they are encouraged to join hands together with the government to tackle the lingering security challenges facing them, by being security conscious, as safety of lives and property requires their active support.

According to the Special Assistant on security matters to the FCT Minister, Henry Shield Nwazuruahu, who gave the advice in a recent interview with newsmen, there is the need for residents to identify with peace, which is what the administration stands for. He stressed the need for them (residents) to partner with the government towards ensuring the security of their lives and property, as it won’t work if they decide to turn their back on government. According to him, yuletide period, is a strategic time with heightened security issues, hence the need for every resident to understand that security their individual responsibility too- as government needs them as much as they need government for security of lives and property in the FCT.

  For the FCT Administration, every effort made to stand in solidarity with the government, in tackling insecurity is always welcome.

“And I want to appeal to the conscience of FCT residents, to join hands together with the government to tackle the lingering security challenges facing us, as they cannot allow there life to be closed down.

“There is nowhere in the world where you have 100 % security without the active participation of the citizens, so we are appealing to the FCT residents- lets join hands together, government is not your enemy, rather the enemy are those who have decided to threaten our security. “If you (residents) see anything that is suspicious, ensure to immediately report it to the FCT Administration or any other relevant

authorities, that’s is the best that we (residents) can do

“So, residents should know that the government is opening its doors for their own participation in securing the FCT,” he noted.
