Worried by the incessant killings, kidnappings going on in Kaduna state and other parts of the country, Kaduna Metropolitan Council of Ladies of Saint Mulumba, Catholic Church has embarked on prayer and fasting for God’s intervention for the restoration of peace in the state.
Speaking to the media in Kaduna, yesterday the Kaduna Metro, Mrs. Esther Ambosom explained that the prayers and fasting are being undertaken as measures to seek the face of God’s intervention of what people are going through especially the recent killings and attacks on Southern Kaduna.
She said their prayers to God are for total restoration of mutual understanding among the ethnic groups in Southern Kaduna and the end of the incessant killings and destruction of houses, crops in farmlands, and other valuables.
She further explained that women in Kafanchan, Sokoto, Minna, Funtua, and other places have all join in the prayers and fasting towards ensuring sanity in the society.
In her response, the Kaduna zonal coordinator, Mrs. Rose John Bagu said they are disturbed with the rising incessant killings and kidnapping of innocent Nigerians, particularly in Southern Kaduna where blood is being shed and property destroyed daily.
According to her, “As we are praying here in Kaduna, our ladies in Sokoto, Kafanchan, Minna, and other places in the Kaduna Metropolitan Council are also praying along with us for the restoration and sustenance of peace in the land.”
She added, “We have many of our brothers and sisters that have been kidnapped and are presently in bushes in this harsh weather day and night for ransoms of millions of naira to be paid before they are released and some being killed after paying the ransom for no just reason but the wickedness of man to man.”
One of the men leaders, Mr. Timothy Kukwai hailed the efforts of the women in praying for the peace of the nation especially with the incessant killings and destruction of valuables taking place in Southern Kaduna, assuring that the Almighty would bring the perpetrators to judgment if they do not repent of their evil activities to humanity.
He enjoined the federal and Kaduna State governments to take measures that bring an end to the wanton destruction going on in Southern Kaduna by ensuring the perpetrators are brought to book while assistance is rendered to those affected by the destruction of their valuables.
