Insecurity in Nigeria manifestations of corruption, says Don

A Professor of Political History at the Nigerian Defence Acedemy (NDA) Kaduna, Adam Ahmed Abere has said all forms of insecurity in Nigeria are all manifestations of corruption over the years.
He made the assertion in a keynote lecture he delivered at the15th Anti Corruption Situation Room organised by Human and Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA) in Kaduna yesterday
Speaking on the theme Corruption and its Threat to Peaceful Coexistence: A Critical Review of Feuding Communities and Management of Scarce Resources Abere said from Boko Haram, kidnapping, armed banditry xenophobia in South Africa and poor treatment of Nigerians outside the country are all manifestations of corruption over the years.
Abere, categorised cost of corruption into political, economic, social and environment, noting that corruption hinders true democracy.
The Don further said banditry in Zamfara and Katsina States are consequence of mining operations in the two states, saying the plan is to make the area an ungovernable environment to bring arms in and control the mining activities fully
He, however, lauded the Federal Government’s ban on mining activities which he said helped to reduce the crises”.
In his own remark, the Acting Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Ibrahim Magu said that corruption has found its way into the implementation of Federal Government’s National Social Investment Programme (N-SIP).
