At least two (2) soldiers and two (2) civilians have been reportedly killed following an attack on Ikobi, Apa local government area of Benue by suspected armed herders.

Chairman Apa LGA Comrade Adam Ochega Ogwola confirmed this to newsmen in a telephone conversation on Thursday.

He said some residents of the community had raised an alarm through phone calls that the invaders  stormed their area at about 3:30 am on Wednesday, following which he also made frantic efforts to nip the incident in the bud but there was no response.

“Later, I heard that two soldiers were killed. So this morning, they discovered the bodies of two civilians. The attack took place at Ikobi community in Apa. The situation is relatively calm.

“Soldiers and policemen are there to carry out their investigation and ensure that normalcy returns to the community.“

As at the time of filing this report, all efforts to get confirmation from Capt Abdullahi Lawal Osabo, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations 401 SF/Bde/Sector 1 Operation Whirl Stroke, Makurdi as well as the Police Public Relations Officer CSP Catherine Anene failed as they could not reply to text messages.
