Senator Jack Tilley Gyado, a delegate at the National conference has suggested members of the confab offer three days of fasting to bring peace to the country.
Gyado, a representative of Benue state suggested that the secretariat not serve tea and lunch for those three days of fasting which he said should be offered to soothe God’s anger.
“We will achieve peace and those of us who are overweight will get healthy. God is angry with us and I think we must ask God for his mercy.
Those of us who have been given important positions to look after the downtrodden have cheated on them,” he went on to say, while also tasking Nigerians to go back and rebuild the middle class because it had been destroyed, and without a middle class no country could succeed.
I think this whole thing about religion, we are overheating it. The holy books are there, and I know that no human beings no matter where they are have equalled these holy books. The problem is that we have left these holy books; we’re not reading them, we’re not practising them.
He also tasked Nigerians to go back to their core values and abide by the law binding both Christianity and Islam which says “do not do to your neighbour what you don’t wish your neighbour to do unto you.
Sometimes when we are found in high offices we will swear on these holy books, and the next moment there will be monumental corruption. It’s not the name of your religion that matters; it is you as a person that matters. It is a contract between you and your creator, and you can’t hide under any religion and cheat God,” he added.
