Institute hails appointment of Agama as SEC DG, pledges support

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants has hailed the appointment of Dr. Emomotimi Agama, as the Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The Institute said this in a congratulatory message sent to the DG and signed by the President Sarah Ghosh.

In the letter, the Institute said Agama’s achievement is the result of his passion and relentless commitment to the Nigerian economy, as well as the finance and accounting profession on the African continent.

The Institute pledged to support the newly appointed DG in repositioning the capital market to contribute significantly to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

The letter reads, “The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, representing AICPA & CIMA, I would like to extend our sincere congratulations on your appointment as the Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

“Your achievement is the result of your passion and relentless commitment to the Nigerian economy, as well as the finance and accounting profession on the African continent.

“We are proud and honoured to see one of our members occupy such an influential position. We look forward to seeing the work you accomplish and supporting you in any way we can along your journey.

In a statement, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), had announced the appointment of Mr. Mairiga Aliyu Katuka, as Chairman; Mr. Emomotimi Agama, Director-General; Frana Chukwuogor, Executive Commissioner (Legal and Enforcement); Mr. Bola Ajomale, Executive Commissioner (Operations); Mrs. Samiya Hassan Usman, Executive Commissioner (Corporate Services); Mr. Lekan Belo, Non-Executive Commissioner; and Mr. Kasimu Garba Kurfi, Non-Executive Commissioner.
