The former Imam, Lagos State University, Prof. Amidu Sanni, on Wednesday, said that, the Nigeria’s troop’s renewed onslaught on terrorists should be sustained to make the country safe.
Sanni spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos against the backdrop of troop’s success in neutralising insurgents in some parts of the country in the last few days.
He noted that the renewed zeal against terrorists in the last few days could be attributed to the U.S. President Donald Trump’s stance on Nigeria’s security challenge, adding that it served as a wake-up call.
He described the no few than 15 years insurgence in the country as the undoing of successive administration saying the renewed zeal against terror serves as a warning signal to their local, foreign, and known/unknown sponsors.
According to him their backers should by now know is no more ‘business’ as usual.
“More importantly, President Tinubu’s calm but strong and firm diplomacy has taken the sail out of the loud beat of war drums.
“But the government needs to do more positive publicity. Of course, Nigeria is a very prayerful nation and the effect of this in dousing the palpable tension in the land cannot be underestimated.
“But beyond that, the tempo in recalibrating our security and economic policies should be sustained in a way that the ordinary Nigerians will feel positive changes.”
