The FCT Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB) has commended the principal of the Model Girls’ Junior Secondary School (GJSS) ACO Estate in the Federal Capital territory (FCT), Hajia Titilayo Nimota Yahaya for organizing a peaceful inter-house sports competition in the school.
The Deputy Director in charge of the school sports at FCT-UBEB, Shewu Bawa Nasko gave the commendation while addressing the students who took part in the 4th annual inter-house sports competition.
He also, called on corporate organizations, private individuals and highly placed individuals to provide sporting facilities for the students.
In her speech at the occasion, Hajia Titilayo Nimota Yahaya, described sports as an integral part of education.
Her words: “I encourage every one of you to give your best, to support one another, and to celebrate both victories and setbacks.
“Remember, every great athlete has faced challenges and learned from them. Embrace the spirit of competition, but also remember to uplift your peers; after all, we are here to enjoy and learn together”.
She thanked the teachers as well as the non-teaching staff for their support and guidance, and expressed gratitude to the parents and guardians for their continued support of the school and its programmes.
At the end of the competition; while Kwali house took the 1st position, the 2nd position went to Abaji house and AMAC house took the 3rd position.
