Internet disruption: We’ve started to restore service, Swift assures of improved connectivity

Swift Networks, a facilities-based telecommunications company, says it is restoring capacity from some of its cable vendors.
On March 14, subsea cable providers were affected by major cuts to undersea submarine cables, disrupting internet traffic in major parts of Africa.
In Nigeria, banking and telecommunications services were significantly hampered.
Some of the affected submarine communications cables included the West Africa Cable System (WACS), the Africa Coast to Europe (ACE), MainOne, and SAT3.
According to available records, Swift Networks is among seven internet service providers (ISPs) that have connected to the MainOne submarine cable system in Nigeria.
Giving updates on the undersea cable cuts in a notice to customers on Saturday, the company said due to its efforts in restoring capacity, some of its customers may notice improvements in its broadband service.
The firm, however, said some customers may still have trouble accessing certain websites as the cable vendors are yet to reach full capacity.
“We have started to restore capacity from some of our cable vendors. As such, you may notice improvements in our broadband service,” the company said.
“However, as our cable vendors are yet to reach full capacity, you may still experience intermittent broadband connectivity and/or difficulty in accessing some websites.”
Swift said it anticipates further improvements over the weekend as it continues “with all efforts to get to full capacity”.
The organisation also urged customers to contact its customer care team for assistance or clarification.
