The federal government has been charged to immediately affirm its stand on the $9.3 million dollar saga and independently investigate former Chief of Army Staff, Patrick Ihejirika, and former Bornu State governor, Modu Sheriff, or face an indefinite nationwide protest.

Addressing news men yesterday in Abuja, a leader of a newly created rights group, the Citizens Arise Movement of Nigeria, (CAMON), Deno Melaye, said the demand was in addition to others, which the Federal Government had 14 days to meet, if the inspired protest was to be averted.

“The Federal Government should constitute an independent panel to determine the following: “The involvement of the former chief of army staff, Patrick Ihejirika, and former Bornu state governor, Modu Sheriff in the sponsorship of Boko haram. Invite Dr. Stephen Davis and involve the Australian Government to unravel the truth.”

He called on the Federal government to immediately reverse the death sentence on 12 Nigerian soldiers, accused of mutiny and commence immediate prosecution of culprits in mega corruption cases such as “Halliburton, Malabu and Siemens” and ensure that the culprits face the full wrath of the law.

Other demands by the group include: “The publication of the names of fallen heroes, so that the entire nation can honour them; the reversal of clemency granted to former Bayelsa state governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, for the sake of the international arrest warrant on him; the full equipment of the military against insurgency; the return of abducted children by terrorists. Also, that Federal government makes full declaration of Nigeria’s production and sales capacity of crude oil and the complete overhaul of the Judicial system to reflect the Rule of Law”.
