Afrinvest (West Africa) Limited is an investment management holding company has opened office in Kano state, the commercial nerve centre of Northern Nigeria and second most populous in Nigeria.
The office of the Afrinvest, located along Lagos Street in Kano metropolis, had been commissioned on Thursday by Kano state governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Group Managing Director of the financial firm, Ike Chioke said the company had started business more than 15 years ago.
According to him, the company is active in six principal areas including investment banking, securities trading, asset management, trust services, consultancy, and technology.
According to Chioke, in 2009, Afrinvest focused on technology and capital market, adding that “it is leading stock broker in Nigeria.
Our company has also engaged in forex business, especially online via our mobile app. This is on our resolve to digitize our service.
“The Kano office will offer range of services on financing, road projects, bridges, power projects for Kano and its neighbours
We will be able to rise fund to assist Kano government in delivering projects through investment in the company,” Chioke added.
He revealed that it was the Afrinvest that financed the construction of multi-billion Naira Ado Bayero Mall, in addition to other projects in Northern Nigeria.
In his remarks, the Kano state governor, declared his administration’s intention to partner with Afrinvest to modernize and enhance businesses through technological methods.
The Governor who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Kabiru Sa’id Magami expressed delight for the establishment of the office in Kano, adding that there is no better time for Afrinvest to establish a presence in the state than now.
“I wish to start by welcoming you to this important event, the opening of your office here, which will definitely add value to trade in Kano.
“There is no better time for this important decision as Kano is looking for partners like you and we are going to engage you in enhancing trade in Kano.
“Everyone is aware that Kano is known for its commercial activities even before the advent of colonialism in Nigeria.
“We plan to develop trade in the state and engage in modernization as well as expansion to meet to global standards.
“We congratulate this company for its achievements in the last 30 years and thank you for chosing Kano. The state government will give every support to you,” the Governor stated.
