As American people eagerly expect the final result of Tuesday November 3, 2020 presidential election, the lnter Party Advisory Council of Nigeria (IPAC) has warned against electoral malpractice, influence peddling, unauthorized declaration of result and resort to self-help that can disrupt, jeopardize and impede the country’s entrenched democracy.
In a statement issued yesterday by the chairman of the Council, Leonard Nzenwa, IPAC frowned at allegations of electoral robbery and voting at some polling units when the official time for the civic exercise had elapsed.
The council therefore urged American people to be vigilant and resist any attempt to manipulate the electoral process or disenfranchise eligible voters, saying all lawful votes must be counted and count in the overall result.
“Presidential candidates should desist from influence peddling, unauthorised declaration of result that can truncate American democracy.
“Candidates, their political parties and supporters should adhere to democratic rules, ethics and ethos as the whole world is watching. Any aggrieved candidate should approach the court for peaceful resolution of electoral dispute.
“The will and mandate of American people must be respected. We are all in it together”, IPAC said in the statement.
