From David Hassan, Gombe

Aggrieved members of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria IPMAN have been told to bury their hatchets in the interest of the growth and development of the association.

The association also stated that the on-going fuel scarcity has nothing to do with their recent past in-house stand-off.

The new Caretaker Chairman of IPMAN in Gombe Depot, Alhaji Isa Muhammad Abdullahi stated this yesterday during the presentation of caretaker leadership of the Association to the five forums that made up Gombe Depot.

He called on members to be patient because, according to him, the caretaker arrangement under the national leadership of Chief Lawson Obasi is only temporal and charged with the mandate to conduct substantive election for the association.

“If you give anyone a mandate by election, you have patiently wait for him to complete his term and leave, whether he’s getting it right or wrong; or whether you’re pleased with his activities or not”, he said.

He explained that the selfish desire of the immediate past leadership to perpetuate itself in office and the attendant litigation that scuttled that plan led to the constitution of Caretaker Committee for the Association nationwide.

He extended an olive branch to all aggrieved members to come on board and participate in the running of the affairs of the association so that together, they could move IPMAN forward.

“I want to urge all of us to join hands and participate in the activities of this Association so that you can contribute your quota to the ongoing positive change.

That way, there won’t be cause for regret over things that should have been done that are not being done or the other way round.

In his remarks, Alhaji Ibrahim Garba, Chairman, National Association of Transport Owners NATO drummed support for the Caretaker Committees nationwide and also called on the Committee to

carry everybody along in their activities.

He enjoined leaders to “embrace inclusive administration” so that IPMAN can act and move as one unit always.
