Date:

From Nosa Akenzua, Asaba.

Business including academic activities across Asaba in Delta State, were on Thursday paralyzed over IPOB sit at home threat.
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) had threatened massive protest and sit at home come May 30th 2019, in the South South, South East region.
However, security agencies described the threats as mere, and urged residents/ indigenes of the zones to go about their businesses.
But in Asaba, and its environs, business and academic activities were paralyzed as virtually all the streets are in desolate even as the popular commercial buses plying Asaba- Onistha disappeared from the roads.
At the popular Ogbeogonogo market, it was the same story as the market which used to be beehive of commercial activities, was is shadow of itself for fear of the unknown, while few traders who did not heed to the sit at home order, were seen discussing in hush, hush tones in Ibo language.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Onome Onovuwakpoyeya in a swift reaction restated the police commitment to protecting lives and properties in the state, adding that the police will deal decisively with any trouble maker.
“The Police will deal decisively with any trouble maker in the state, the Police will protect the lives and properties of the people in the state, the Police is not perturbed about the IPOB threats, the Police will maintain law and order, “ the PPRO said.
Some Ibo traders, one of them, Igwe Ignatius who spoke to journalists said that the IPOB is the only solution to the problem in the country, adding that it might be long, IPOB would achieve its dreams for its country.
“Many of us in Asaba are Biafra IPOB, and today is our day, it’s just a delay, but we must get there, IPOB is the only solution to the problem in Nigeria,” he said.
