Islam frowns at child abuse -Varsity don

A lecturer at the  Department of  Accounting, Ahmadu Bello University, (ABU), Zaria, Prof. Ahmed Bello Dogarawa has cautioned against all forms of Child abuse, stressing it is against the teaching and norms of Islam.

Prof Dogarawa gave the charge while delivering his lecture on the occasion of the  Annual Ramadan lecture organized by the Sabil Charitable International Organization (SCIO) with the theme: ‘Child Rights and Abuse in Islamic Perspective,’ held in Kaduna.

He said the various forms of child abuses is never permitted in Islam, noting there are many verses of the Quran that discussed about it and Hadiths that strongly warned against it.

He noted that many families are not living up to their responsibilities, a situation he said had contributed to many of the societal challenges witnessed today.
