A Sokoto based Islamic scholar, Sheik Yusuf Alibawa, has called on Nigerians wishing to undertake the 2014 Muslim pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia to pray for Nigeria.

Alibawa told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday, in Sokoto, that intending pilgrims should pray for God to intervene to enable the government overcome the security challenges facing the country.

He expressed confidence that prayers would ensure the restoration of peace, progress and political stability in Nigeria.

He also called on Nigerians to complement the efforts of the security agencies by providing them with information on movement of suspicious characters in their midst.

Alibawa urged the people to be security conscious, adding that the federal government should provide the security agencies with sophisticated weapons to enable them defeat the insurgents.

He stressed the need for the government to urgently tackle the Boko Haram insurgents to enable the people in the North-East zone carry on with their normal activities. (NAN)
