ITF sharpens INEC staff skills on report writing

In an effort to encourage professionalism and efficiency, the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) has embarked on a sensitization drive to sharpen the skills of INEC staff on effective report writing.

The Director-General of the Fund, Prof. Longmas Sambo, made the pledge in Yola while declaring a three-day workshop for electoral officers open yesterday.

Sambo said the workshop was aimed at improving the knowledge, skills and attitude of the trainees in report gathering and writing, especially during elections.

Represented by Alhaji Jibrin Bukar, the Yola Area Manager of the Fund, Sambo said that the workshop was coming ahead of the 2015 general elections.

“The training is aimed to improve knowledge, attitude and skills of the Assistant Electoral Officers who are working in administration department in 21 local government areas in the state.

“And the main objective is to enhance their writing ability, communication and demonstration of positive attitude while on election duty,” Sambo said.

Mr Kasim Gaidam, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, said that the training would be a continuous exercise aimed at building working capacity of the staff for effective service delivery.

“`The ongoing effective report writing workshop is designed to equip the staff with latest method of data collection and reporting.

“It is also a step forward for the successful conduct of the forthcoming 2015 general elections,” Gaidam said.

Gaidam, who was represented by Malam Ibrahim Fika, Head of General Administration and Procurement, said that INEC office in the state had organised and sponsored several training for its staff.

He said that more than 30 officers from 21 local government areas and the state headquarters were among the participants.
