The Jigawa state government has expressed concerns on the percentage of reproductive women that adopt family spacing in the state.
The Director, Jigawa state Primary Healthcare Development Agency (JSPHDA), Dr Shehu Sambo raised the issues while delivering the welcoming address during the three days training of Media practitioners, social media influencers, and MDAs officials on media advocacy for family planning, organised by Devcoms and TCI.
Dr Sambo, who appealed to media to embark on massive enlightenment campaign on the importance of family spacing said, the awareness creation will save thousands of children and women from maternal mortality and morbidity.
He explained that, “ in Jigawa state only 3.6 percent of over 1.5 million Reproductive age women adopt use of contraceptive in the state.
