Jigawa govt, South Korea firm, Dangote group partner on rice production

The Jigawa state government has sought the support of South Korean company to improve the capacity of rice production in the state.
Governor Badaru stated this, yesterday while receiving the South Korean delegation on agricultural partnership with the state and collaboration with Dangote group on rice production in his office at Government House Dutse.
He said Jigawa State will witness another round of improvement in agricultural production more than it had in the last four years.
Governor Badaru told the delegation that Jigawa State is already known to be an agrarian state with over 70 percent of its population are in farming business for years.
Badaru said with the good climate, fertile arable land and enabling environment provided by the state government to investors in agriculture, the sky is the limit to its development.
He said the state government in collaboration with the South Korean investors as well as Dangote Group a lot is going to be achieved in rice production.
He further explained that the state is going to take agriculture seriously in line with the Presidential initiative on Nigerians to feed Nigerians.
“With the new initiative on how to improve Rice production, more Modern machines will be brought into the state that will be used in Rice production and padding, trashing, polishing, smoothening, packaging as well as marketing”, he stressed.
Earlier, the leader of the South Korean delegation, Mr Byeong Sam Kim, the Director General of Gyeongsangbukdo Agricultural Centre told the governor that they are in the state the explore agricultural ties with the state.
He said they are in the state in collaboration with Dangote with a view to inspecting areas for rice production.
