Jigawa lawmaker’s wife empowers 275 women with over N1.6 million

A wife of member representing Miga constituency in Jigawa state house of assembly, Hajiya Zahra’u Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, empowered 275 women with over N1.6 million in the constituency.
Speaking during the distribution of the funds, Hajiya Zahra’u said, this is part of her husband’s effort to support women in his constituency to remain self reliance.
She explained that, a total number of 275 women selected across ten political wards is the constituency have benefited including women leaders in the area.
She identified the political wards as Miga, Zareko, Dangyatin, Hantsu, Tsakuwawa, idundunu, Koya among others.
According to her, the local government woman leader received twenty thousands support other wards women leaders received ten thousands each, while remaining 260 women benefitted with five thousands naira each.
She maintained that, though the support is little but, for women if it use appropriately it would boost their small business and make signacant changes not only to them but also to their entire families.
While making her remarks at the occasion, wife of the speaker Jigawa state house of assembly Hajiya Sadiya Idris Garba commended Hajiya Zahra’u for supporting less previledge women in her constituency.
Hajiya Sadiya added that, this women empowement by wives of lawmakers is first of it kind in the state, adding that all other wives of lawmakers in Jigawa will soon embark on similar empowerment in their respective constituencies.
Also speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, malama Maryam ishaq commended the lawmaker’s wife and promised to use the funds appropriately.
