Jigawa moves to compete with China, Thailand in rice production

The Jigawa state government has intensified efforts to compete with international rice producers like China and Thailand for a better economic development.
Governor Muhammad Badaru dropped the hint while receiving the team of Nigerian Agricultural Seeds Commission (NASC) in Dutse, the state capital.
He explained that, the present administration has gone far in modernising the agricultural system in the state particularly the commercial farming in the state.
According to him, already the state government disbursed improved rice seeds to farmers and it already start yielding a fruitful result as during this season farmer harvested 7.5 to 8.5 tons hectares.
He said, similar result was recorded to cluster farmers particularly groundnut and sesame farmers in the state.
