The Jigawa state government through ministry for local government and community development announced a plan to initiate a car loan for local government employees.
The State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Ahmed Garba MK dropped the hint while delivering his remarks shortly after receiving an award from the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Jigawa state chapter.
He urged the NULGE members to always resist any temptation to wrong doing in their various offices, promised to reward hardworking employees with next rank in their place of duty.
He also called on them to always report back on anything that is not allowed by law in their respective areas of assignment, so that proper action would be taken against it.
He promised that henceforth, as long as he remains the Commissioner anything that is going to be enjoyed by members is going to be on merit rather than being favoured.
“In my time, there will be no sacred cow when it comes to legal service, everybody will be considered according to his or her performance,” he explained.
The commissioner added that, as part of effort to serve the community, governor Malam Umar Namadi through ministry for local government sponsored free Hernia surgery to over 810 community members across 27 local government areas in the state.
Also speaking, the State Chairman of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Abubakar Garba Shitu said the Commissioner was recognised for good performance.
“There is prompt and steady payment of salaries, allowances and another other benefits supposed to be enjoyed by our members are done as at when due.
“That is why we find it necessary to reward hard and good work with appreciation like this award. We are thankful and full of joy”, he said.
