The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Jigawa State Chapter, has reaffirmed its loyalty and support for the leadership of former Governor Alhaji Sule Lamido and the State Working Committee led by Hon. Babandi Ibrahim Gumel.
This was contained in a communiqué issued by Umar Kyari, the PDP State Publicity Secretary at the end of an expanded caucus meeting of the party held yesterday.
The meeting commended the National Working Committee (NWC) for what it described as “revamping efforts” that have repositioned the PDP nationwide and for initiating arrangements for the forthcoming National Convention in line with the party’s constitution and rules.
Party members were urged to remain calm and supportive of the party leadership as political events unfold across the country.
On the recently conducted Babura/Garki Federal Constituency bye-election, the meeting called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to sanction three of its staff members who were subjects of a petition, insisting that accountability is necessary to strengthen public confidence in the electoral process.
The caucus also expressed appreciation to PDP members of the National Assembly from Jigawa State, applauding them for their loyalty to the party and ongoing empowerment initiatives in their constituencies.
Furthermore, members of the party were commended for their “tremendous efforts” during the bye-election despite what was described as the “overbearing presence” of the Jigawa State Government.
