Jigawa records 94% Vitamin A Supplement coverage for women, children

The Jigawa state has recorded a remarkable development on the use of Vitamin A and Albendazole supplement for women and children in the state.
This was announced by the state deputy director Nutrition services Alhaji Magaji Uba Ahmad during a one day Post Event Covering Survey (PECs) dessimination meeting held at Tahir Guest palace Dutse.
According to him, the survey indicates 69 percent coverage against 90 percent coverage of the State “it is a good score showing more can be done to achieve higher scores in the state”.
He maintained that, “the second round of MNCHW concluded in the first week of December recorded 94 percent coverage, this is remarkable effort by the state and partners”.
The state deputy director, then commended Nutrition International for partnering Jigawa to improve the lives of women and children.
While making his remarks, country director Nutrition International Dr Osita Okwonkwo who was represented by the Nutrition International’s state coordinator Mr Patrick Odeh said, NI remains a formidable partner of Jigawa state and will work tirelessly to ensure the health and nutrition indicators of women and children are optimized in the state.
Dr Osita added that, the meeting involved 45 participants including senior state officials, local government officials, Civil Society Organizations, media and other partners.
During the meeting the participants recommended increase of funds for nutrition, more mass media awareness creation, sensitization and more traditional, Religious leaders engagement in the state.
