The Jigawa Social Protection platform (JISOP ), has called for the speedy implementation of reviewed social security support to Person’s with Disability (PWDs) and Elderly people in Jigawa state.
The call was contained in a statement signed by the chairman of the platform, comrade Shu’aibu Musa Kafin-gana.
“We call on the relevant ministries, agencies and parastatals to work hard for the speedy implementation of this great effort approved by the governor, as it will address a lot of challenges including poverty, insecurity among many other challenges”.
The platform also commended governor Malam Umar Namadi for the review and submission of amended Social Security Law No.06, 2007 tothe Jigawa State House of Assembly.
According to the statement, it is a laudable achievement for the present administration and entire people of Jigawa, the enrollment of additional Person’s with Disability (PWDs) from 151 to 200 per local government, making the total number of beneficiaries from 4,347 to 5,400 across 27 local government areas in the state.
The platform also commended the governor for the increased of PWDs social security allowances from N7,000 to N10,000 per each person every month.
The statement maintained that, during the state council meeting approved the Social Protection Scheme for elderly people and agreed to register 20 elderly people per ward making the total number of the beneficiaries to 5,740 across 287 political wards in the state while each person will benefit with N10,000 monthly.
The Jigawa Social Protection Platform (JISOP), is a platform that comprised Civil Society Organizations, Media, Academia, ethnic minority and Persons with Disability (PWDs), working to ensure social protection and inclusiveness in the state.
