The Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abubakar Audi urged the owners of private guard companies to join the corps in the fight against insecurity.
Audi stated this yesterday at the headquarters of the corps in Abuja while issuing operational license to owners of private guard companies.
He said the country needs more collaborative efforts to combat insecurity.
“I want to believe that you will continue to be of high integrity and by extension good ambassadors of the Corps. We shall not hesitate to wield the big hammer on any company whose director depart from the good character which formed the basis for the grant of this licence.
“While I appreciate your business instinct in enduring the process, kindly note that the licence is not for business profit alone but an opportunity for you to contribute your quota to the security of this nation.
“This duty is not as a matter of choice but a call to national duty which must be honored.
Therefore, any location where you have your guards is an extension of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps beat because you are not to only secure the facilities but also report to the Corps, all suspicious activities and movement.
“While I expect that you must as a matter of compulsion turn in intelligence report on a monthly basis, any one that is of urgent importance must be turned in immediately as companies shall be held responsible for any breach of security that occurs in their beats.
“I am sure you have been adequately prepared for the task ahead during the orientation lectures.”
Speaking further, Audi said their licence can be revoked if they fail to renew or abide by the rules.
Responding on behalf of the recipients, Olumide Ijogun, the MD of Desert Storm security company urged his colleagues to ensure collaboration to fight insecurity.
He tasked them to place national interest ahead of personal interest and abide by all the laid down rules of the NSCDC.
