The Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN) of the North-Central zone, has lamented that the President Goodluck Jonathan -led administration has failed woefully to tackle the five years insurgency occasioned by the dreaded Boko Haram sect in the northern Nigeria, calling on the United Nations (UN) to come to the country’s rescue.

According to a report by the BBC Hausa Service monitored in Jos yesterday, the lamentation, which was made on Tuesday at a meeting of the association, held in Jos, had in attendance representatives from the six states of the zone.

The report stated Daniel Kaze, who is the CAN Deputy Chairman in the North-Central said that since Nigeria, as an entity, could not bring an end to the activities of militant Boko Haram sect, then it had become necessary for them to call with a loud voice on the United Nations to come to intervene on the issue.

Kaze said, “The government of President Jonathan has failed us and it is very clear that the country cannot solve the Boko Haram problem. So, it has become necessary for us to call on the United Nation to help the country in the problem it finds itself.

Kaze further noted that apart from the Boko Haram insurgency, there were other crises bedeviling other states in the North, citing Nasarawa, Taraba among others as case study.

Also at the meeting, Daniel Luka, who is from Adamawa state, condemned the current difficult situation, calling on both Muslims and Christians from the North to build co-operation among themselves and forget any political differences,

Luka added that the increase in the activities of Boko Haram was a clear indication that there was planned agenda to destroy the northern region.
