President Goodluck Jonathan, last night at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja, treated the new Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, to a sumptuous dinner during a breaking of the Ramadan fast he hosted for some top traditional rulers in northern Nigeria.
This convivial embrace between the president and the emir is coming five months after the former sacked the latter while he was about to serve out his term as governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
The monarchs were led to the breakfast meeting by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III. The Sultan had on June 14 met President Jonathan in Abuja, and feelers from that parley suggested the monarch tried to mediate in the spat between the president and the sacked CBN boss.
