Jonathan’s declaration, a thoughtless prioritization – UAD

A political pressure group, United Action for Democracy (UAD) has described as ‘thoughtless prioritization of office seeking’ over the lives and liberty of poor, young and hapless Nigerians the declaration of intent to run for another term in office by President Jonathan.

This was contained in a press statement issued to newsmen in Lagos by the National convenor of the group, Mr. Baba Aye adding that it is a crass demonstration of insensitivity, particularly as it appears to happen barely 24 hours after the murder of 49 pupils of the Government Senior Science Secondary School Potiskum, by insurgents in Yobe state.

The group equally cited the claims of Mr. President about his stewardship thus far as nothing but begging for questions.

The group also took a swipe at the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the party tactics is a bid to win the masses support at the polls in 2015.

It added: “The APC has risen up to attack the president’s declaration speech. UAD sees this as “playing smart, but not being clever”. It is nothing but a disingenuous tactic in its bid to win our support at the polls in 2015, as well. The difference between PDP and APC is that between six and half a dozen.

“Our salvation as a people, the poor exploited and oppressed masses, does not lie in the PDP, APC or any other political formation of the bosses. To salvage our lives which they collectively toy with, we must fight to deepen democracy through continued resistance and struggle for system change. The road might be rough and long, but if we dare to struggle, we dare to win”, it said.
