Jos killings: SDP guber aspirant condemns attack on Gov. Lalong

A governorship aspirant of the Social Democratic Party SDP in Plateau State, Amb. John Pofi has strongly condemned the attack on the convoy of the Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, after his visit to the Internationally Displaced Persons(IDP) Camp in Geosciences, Anguldi, Jos South.
Pofi in a statement yesterday said the attack on the convoy of the governor was not in any way the best way to handle any form of grievance or differences that certain group of persons may have with the governor or the Government of Plateau State.
“For any person sitting on the stool of power represents us and any form of attack on such a person will mean an attack on ourselves.
“Even though I am aware of the grievances that the people of Plateau State have with the governor’s position as regards ranching and his handling of the attacks on farmers by suspected killer herdsmen, this in anyway doesn’t warrant any form of physical attack on the governor or the seat of power,” Poffi said.
He, however, noted that the people are entitled to their anger seeing the way that the victims of the 23rd of June herdsmen attack in Barkin Ladi locak government area were buried without any form of respect or regards, most of them were buried in shallow graves without any form of State burial.
“ I think the governor at this moment should find a way of bridging the obvious gap that he has created with the Peace loving people of Plateau State.”
He said recent incidences in the state has created a serious psychological trauma among many Plateau people. “They have been pushed to the wall of violence, this is not good enough for the polity.”
He urged the governor to rise up to the leadership challenges and responsibility entrusted into his hand to protect and defend the integrity of Plateau indigenes that massively voted for him.
The guber hopeful said the best way people of the state could express it’s anger should be by registering and collecting the Permanent Voters Card (PVC), “by this action will be able to decide your future and the future of the state.”
