Jubilation in Kebbe as Troops Foil Terror Attack, Recover Massive Herd of Rustled Cattle

There was wild jubilation in Asarara Kaura community in Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State as troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully foiled a terrorist attack and recovered a massive herd of rustled cattle.

Residents turned out en masse to commend the troops deployed for counter-terrorism and anti-banditry operations in the community following the swift and decisive operational breakthrough.

It was gathered that the success followed credible and actionable intelligence indicating that a group of armed terrorists had infiltrated Asarara Kaura community, terrorising residents and forcibly rustling a significant number of livestock.

Acting promptly on the information, the troops rapidly mobilised to prevent the terrorists from escaping with the livestock. They intercepted the fleeing terrorists along the Tambuwal-Gadaichi-Gummi Road axis.

Upon sighting the advancing troops, the terrorists engaged them in a violent attempt to escape.

However, they were met with the overwhelming firepower and tactical superiority of the troops. Unable to withstand the assault, the terrorists fled into the surrounding bushes with varying degrees of gunshot wounds, abandoning the entire herd of rustled cattle.

The successful intervention brought overwhelming relief and jubilation to residents of Asarara Kaura and surrounding communities, who trooped out in large numbers to applaud the troops for their bravery and prompt response in safeguarding lives and livelihoods.

To ensure transparency and the seamless restoration of the livestock to their rightful owners, the recovered cattle are currently in secure military custody.

Arrangements have been finalised for the formal handover of the cattle to the Chairman of the Sokoto State Committee on the Recovery of Rustled Animals, who will oversee the verification and return process to affected community members.

In a related development, the Chairman of Kebbe Local Government Area, Hon. Musa Garba Kuchi, led a patrol visit to the camp where the recovered cattle are being kept. During the visit, he commended the troops for their remarkable success and encouraged them to sustain their efforts.

Kuchi assured the troops that the local government would continue to provide security agencies with the necessary support to protect lives and property.

He added that he also led a team of soldiers on patrol and search operations in areas suspected to be routes used by terrorists, further reinforcing security measures in the area.

The chairman was accompanied by the Secretary of the Local Government, Hon. Shamsu Shamsudeen Umar Maiakwai, Sanusi Maidamma and Mallam Ibrahim Umar Kuchi.

He reiterated the council’s resolve to continue working closely with security agencies until lasting peace is restored to Kebbe.

Kuchi prayed to Almighty Allah (SWT) to continue to strengthen security personnel, grant them victory and restore lasting peace in Kebbe, Sokoto State and Nigeria at large.
