A leading candidate for the Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Alhaji Yerima Shettima, has obtained his expression of interest and nomination forms from the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The forms were collected on his behalf by his associates, Hon. Danjuma Paul and Barrister Onus Eugene.

In a statement to journalists shortly after the collection, Shettima said his decision was aimed at dispelling doubts about his commitment to contesting the seat.

He recalled that he recently led a large crowd of supporters to the party leadership in Kaduna State, where he officially announced his intention to run.

The candidate reaffirmed his readiness to participate in the party primaries and dismissed rumours of a consensus candidate emerging.

He emphasized that Kaduna Central needs strong representation in the Senate, asserting that he has the integrity, capacity, and public support necessary to serve effectively.

Shettima, a former President-General of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) and founder of the Northern Stakeholders Consultative Initiative (NSCI), said his experience in youth advocacy has strengthened his bond with voters.

Political analysts believe his past leadership roles have increased his popularity, especially among young voters in the district.

Also speaking, Shehu Sani Sado, President of the Capacity Movement, described Shettima as a strong contender in the race, noting that current political trends favour his rise.
