Kaduna governorship, not a do-or-die affair, says Aspirant

One of the governorship aspirants in Kaduna State on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Alhaji Salihu Mohammed Lukman has said that becoming the governor of the state is not a do- or-die affair and urged other aspirants to share the same idea so as not to overheat the polity.

The governorship aspirant gave the indication when he visited Igabi, Kaduna North and South local government areas of Kaduna State as part of his consultation tour of local governments in the state ahead of the primaries, saying he will abide by whatever the outcome of the party primaries becomes while he remains with the party.

Alhaji Lukman who has submitted his nomination form, however maintained that should there become the need to resolve on a consensus candidate, he will not object to it, even as he said he has all it takes to emerge a consensus candidate if there is going to be any.

“I don’t see politics as a do or die affair, am offering myself to serve the people of the state and I won’t be oppose to any form of consensus if the party decided. that will be the best for the party.

“I however know that the consensus, should there going to be any, will favour me because I have all it takes to fly the party’s flag and defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“Let me also state categorically that should it end up at primaries, whatever becomes the outcome of the primaries, I will abide by it and still remain an APC member and work for its success in the election.”

Alhaji Lukman however appealed to the people of those local governments to give him their support, assuring them that he will not disappoint them if elected governor of Kaduna State.

Leadership of the APC in the local governments who took turn to speak, described Alhaji Lukman as a man who keeps to his words in all the dealings they had with him, stressing that if elected governor he will certainly keep to his campaign promises haven demonstrated that so far.

In Igabi local government, the party Chairman, Jabir Kalmis, said Alhaji Lukman has demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities who deserved to be given an opportunity to serve.

While not promising support to any of the aspirants, he said, “Igabi people will do the needful and give their support at the primaries accordingly when the time comes, we wish you well in your consultative tour” he prayed.
