The Kaduna State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ecologistics Integrated Services Ltd., to enhance the attainment of sustainable development in the state.
The state’s Planning and Budget Commissioner, Mr Thomas Gyang, disclosed this in an interview with the media in kaduna yesterday.
Gyang explained that the company would serve as the Sustainable Development Enhancement Consultant for the state government for the next four years.
He explained that the MoU became necessary to expand sustainable development initiatives and activities with a view to improve the quality of life and standard of living of the people.
He said that the move would also enhance the capacity of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) for effective engagements toward accelerating Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the state.
He also said that the MoU would enable the state to access global funding and technology support and expand local and international partnership for sustainable development and improved service delivery.
According to Gyang, the main goal is to harness the state’s socio-economic capital and reinvest such capital for profitable return on sustainable development.
“This will enable our dear state to enhance its capacity to develop standard infrastructure and attract collaboration from global development community to improve standard of living of the people sustainably.”
He said that by the MoU, the Ecologistics Integrated Service would facilitate access to bilateral and multilateral funding and technology support for development projects and programmes in the state.
He added that the consultant would also facilitate access to climate change finance and ensure that Kaduna state utilise the funds to develop and implement sustainable development enhancement programme.
The commissioner further said that the consultant would also ensure continuity of existing sustainable development initiatives in the state.
“Ecologistics will equally facilitate the transition of Kaduna state social, economic and infrastructural development projects and programmes for sustainable development outcomes, measurable against SDGs targets and indicators.
“It will also provide technical and logistics services for capacity enhancement for personnel of local governments and MDAs for sustainable development and enhancement programme.”
Gyang said that the MoU would be valid for a term of four years and automatically renew, except a party provides a notice of discontinuance to the other party.
Ecologistics is a global climate change investment and sustainable development firm that facilitates funding and technology support for national and sub-national entities. It also provides services that address environment-related social and economic challenges.
