Kaduna State Goverment has launched a five-year Multi-Sectoral Strategic Plan of action for Food and Nutrition, (KDMSPAN) to address issues of malnutrition in the state.
Launching the programme yesterday, the state Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufa’i said KDMSPAN set out modest, realistic and achievable goals and objectives, which will be the driving force behind all the actions and activities of nutrition in the state.
El-Rufa’i, who was represented by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Baloni, explained that malnutrition is the impairment of health due to inadequate nutrients.
He added that malnutrition has multifaceted causes and requires solutions that are multi disciplinary and multi-sectoral, cutting across various sectors including health, agriculture, education, science and technology.
