The Kaduna State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) has praised Governor Uba Sani as a “good ambassador of the Renewed Hope Agenda” following the release of N 4. 289 billion for payment for payment of gratuities, death benefits, and other entitlements of its members.
In a letter of appreciation dated April 16, 2026, and signed by State Executive Chairman Aboman Ladan and Secretary Alhassan Balarabe Musa, the union said this gesture has “not only put smiles on the faces of pensioners but has gone a step further in renewing their hope on all other pending entitlements.”
Last week, Governor Uba Sani authorized the release of N4.289 billion to retiring civil servants and the families of deceased workers across State and Local Government services.
The approval includes payments under the Contributory Pension Scheme (Accrued Rights) and the Defined Benefit Scheme (Gratuities and Death Benefits), benefiting a total of 1, 637 recipients.
Under the Contributory Pension Scheme, N 3. 915 billion will be paid to 1, 392 pensioners, while 245 beneficiaries under the Defined Benefit Scheme will receive N 374 million.
The union highlighted that the “timely intervention has brought great relief and renewed hope to many of our members who have waited patiently for years. For numerous bereaved families, the gesture has erased their burden and restored their faith in government.
“We are truly grateful for your compassion and for prioritizing the welfare of senior citizens in your administration. You are truly an Ambassador of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the pensioners expressed.
The letter, with reference number NUP/KDS/HQ/VOL 2/25, also reminded Governor Uba Sani of outstanding liabilities, noting that some pensioners still have pending entitlements, particularly older individuals.
It also expressed confidence in the Governor’s ability to clear all pension liabilities, given his goodwill and previous record.
It is worth noting that, with last week’s release, Governor Uba Sani has paid a total of N17. 796 billion since taking office, benefiting no fewer than 8, 8,344 retirees and the families of deceased workers.
