The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested 30 suspected bandits and kidnappers, rescued seven victims, and recovered 24 firearms and 200 rounds of ammunition during a two-month operation across the state.
The State Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, PSC, mni, announced this during a press briefing in Kaduna today.
CP Muhammad said the successes recorded in March and April were due to intelligence-led policing, strategic operations, and the dedication of officers under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
He also disclosed that the command recovered 50 rustled cows and dismantled several kidnapping rings during the period.
Highlighting key breakthroughs, the commissioner noted that operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested Samaila Ilyasu in Kagarko LGA on April 7 and recovered 20 locally made Dane guns from him.
In a separate operation on April 1, two suspected gunrunners, Isah Abdullahi and Muhammad Salisu of Tsafe LGA, Zamfara State, were intercepted with 200 rounds of live ammunition hidden inside a sack of guinea corn.
CP Muhammad added that the command also detained several suspected informants assisting bandits. On March 16, Ali Usman of Ladduga Village, Kachia LGA, was arrested for supplying information to armed bandits.
On April 11, Haruna Abubakar of Sabon Birni Village, Giwa LGA, was arrested for providing intelligence on potential kidnapping targets. Another suspect, Yusufa Audu of Kadage Village, Kauru LGA, was arrested on March 22 for acting as both an informant and a drug supplier to bandits operating in the Kadage forest.
Further arrests included two suspected kidnappers, Abdullahi Suleiman and Jibril Isyaku, in Makarfi LGA on April 11, and two notorious kidnappers, Idris Abubakar and Ibrahim Bello, in Kubau LGA on April 8. On April 9, Operation Fushin Kada officers detained Rabiu Wada and Iliayasu Auwalu, who confessed to kidnapping and cattle rustling within the state.
In Lere LGA, Adamu Amadu was arrested on March 21 for involvement in a kidnapping syndicate.
Regarding cattle rustling, the commissioner stated that two suspects, Abdulkadir Haruna and Buhari Hassan, were apprehended on April 3 at Kufena Unguwan Fulani, with 20 rustled cows recovered.
Other operations led to the arrest of 13 suspected armed robbers and thugs in Rigasa on April 1, two suspected motorcycle snatchers and two receivers on April 11, and a notorious drug dealer known as “Shanuna” in Rigasa later that same day.
CP Muhammad also confirmed the arrest of two suspects, Umar Yusuf and Jibril Lawal, for culpable homicide in Giwa LGA on April 2, as well as the detention of Aliyu Usama on April 11 for stealing 25 pieces of 12mm iron rods from the Ahmadu Bello Stadium construction site.
The Commissioner of Police stated that these achievements reflect the command’s resolve to eliminate criminal elements from Kaduna State and create a safer environment for all law-abiding residents.
He expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, for his strategic leadership, and to Governor Uba Sani for his steadfast support. CP Muhammad urged residents to continue providing reliable information to security agencies, emphasizing that joint efforts will help build a safer Kaduna State.
