In a renewed vigour to ensuring the safety of lives and property of Kaduna state citizens, security men of the Nigerian Police Force, Kaduna State Command, have successfully rescued a victim, kidnapped from Abuja, and arrested a member of the kidnappers group, leading to the recovery of the victim’s vehicle and kidnappers’ operational firearms.
This was confirmed in a statement made available to journalists by the Public Relations Officer of the Kaduna State Police Command, A.S.P Mansur Hassan and signed by the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, CP A.D Ali, during a press briefing yesterday in Kaduna State.
According to the statement, the Operatives attached to Kawo Divisional Headquarters, Kaduna, received a distress call from Abuja, informing them of the sad incident, indicating the culprits and their victims were transiting through Kaduna to which the said Operatives at about 0010 hours blocked a grey Toyota Hilux van registration number Abuja RBC 90 DC with four passengers with the driver inclusive, suspecting it to be the vehicle conveying the kidnappers and their victim.
The kidnappers on sensing danger, made an effort to escape, forcing one of the kidnappers to shoot at the Policemen, attracting an immediate response accordingly.
In the resulting gun duel, the victim, a certain Segun Akinyemi of block 10, flat 2 FCDA quarters Area 3 Garki Abuja was rescued and one of the kidnappers, a 28 years old Chinaza Philip of Life Camp Abuja was arrested while three others escaped although trailed.
It was revealed that the said vehicle belonging to the victim, contained two numbers of Retay G17 model pistol, one Berretta pistol, ten 9mm P.A.K ammunitions and five 9mm special ammunitions which were recovered from the kidnappers.
Further investigations revealed that the victim was abducted at about 1700 hours on the 17th of January, 2024 by the kidnappers when he was leaving his home situated at the aforementioned address.
The three escapees are: Chidibere Nwodibo of Life Camp Abuja, one Auwal (surname unknown) and the gang leader who’s identity is yet to be ascertained. The kidnappers were transporting their victim to Kano before being intercepted by the Policemen.
The Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, CP A.D Ali, while commending the Operatives for the brave act, tasked them to continuously go after criminal elements in the State.
He also called on members of the public to avail themselves with hotline of the various security agencies for any distress call requiring prompt response.
