A group of concerned Kaduna State indigenes, including teachers, traders, and community leaders, has taken to the streets to demand justice for the alleged atrocities committed by former Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

The protesters who gathered at the Muritala Square, Kaduna, today, claimed to have been victims of El-Rufai’s policies, alleging that they were sacked from their jobs, had their houses demolished, and were denied their rights.

Comrade Joseph Chory, a spokesperson for the group, called on the Federal Government to prosecute El-Rufai, warning that failure to do so would lead to a boycott of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State.

“El-Rufai must go to jail,” Chory said. “We are calling on the Federal Government not to relent in prosecuting El-Rufai. If the government does not support us, we promise that the Kaduna people will not vote for APC.”

Betty Henry, a teacher whom El-Rufai sacked, shared her story of struggle and hardship. “He sacked me, he sacked my husband, he sacked my father,” she said. “My father died of a heart attack because of the stress.”

Esther Moses, another teacher, also shared her story of loss and suffering. “I lost my job, my husband, and our home because of El-Rufai,” she said. “We need justice. We need the government to help us.”

Alhaji Abduljalil Abdullahi Said Namama, Chairman of Rigasa Market, alleged that El-Rufai’s government had demolished their market without compensation, leaving them without a means of livelihood. “We were the first set of traders whose market was demolished in Kaduna State,” he said. “We are calling on the government to investigate and punish El-Rufai for his crimes.”

Mohammed Idris Ustaz, Chairman of Kawo Market, also shared a similar story of struggle and hardship. “Our markets have been demolished, and the traders have been displaced,” he said. “We are seeking justice and support from the government to help us recover from the losses we incurred under El-Rufai’s administration.”
