Kaduna Revenue Service targets N20bn monthly IGR

The Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), Comrade Jerry Adams, announced that Kaduna State aims for a monthly Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of N20 billion as ongoing fiscal reforms continue to boost taxpayer confidence and enhance revenue performance across the state.
Adams mentioned on Tuesday that he received a delegation from the Association of Non-Indigenes Support Group for Governor Uba Sani, which paid him a courtesy visit and bestowed upon him the title of Grand Patron of the association.
He revealed that the state’s monthly IGR has increased significantly from an average of N4 billion in 2023 to about N9 billion currently, attributing the growth to reforms focused on improving tax administration and building public trust in government.
According to him, taxpayers are increasingly willing to fulfill their civic duties because they see concrete evidence of government investments in key sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, and social welfare.
He affirmed that Governor Uba Sani’s administration remains dedicated to channeling tax-generated resources into projects that directly benefit citizens.
Adams emphasized that KADIRS will continue to implement policies that promote voluntary tax compliance while safeguarding taxpayers from multiple taxation and exploitation.
He highlighted that revenue generation should not be seen as a burden but as a collective responsibility that allows the government to provide essential services and foster sustainable development.
The KADIRS boss also expressed gratitude for the honor granted by the association, describing it as a recognition of the vital role non-indigenes play in Kaduna State’s economic growth and social progress.
He reaffirmed the state’s dedication to inclusive governance, stating that every resident, regardless of ethnicity, religion, or region, has a stake in Kaduna State’s development.
Earlier, Johnny Nwankwere, the Co-Convener of the Association of Non-Indigenes Support Group for Governor Uba Sani, formally presented Adams with a letter of appointment and the association’s flag, officially designating him as Grand Patron.
Nwankwere praised Adams as a visionary, reform-minded leader whose efforts have transformed tax administration in the state.
He lauded the agency’s strides in reducing instances of multiple taxation and tax-related harassment, which have notably improved relationships between taxpayers and the government.
The association is committed to supporting the state’s revenue targets through public education and grassroots mobilization.
Leading the delegation, Abdulsamad Chima Amadi, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Uba Sani on Support Groups, emphasized the importance of collaboration between government agencies and community organizations to achieve development goals.
Members of the group commended Governor Uba Sani for ongoing development projects throughout Kaduna, especially the construction of vocational and skills centers in Soba, Rigachikun, and Samaru Kataf.
They believe these projects will foster youth empowerment, vocational training, and economic self-sufficiency.
