From Femi Oyelola, Kaduna
Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has finalized a landmark energy agreement in London, marking a significant milestone in the state’s pursuit of sustainable power and accelerated economic development.
The Governor led high-level discussions at the Kaduna Electric Franchise Energy Summit, joining his counterparts from Zamfara and Kebbi States to foster regional cooperation and attract critical infrastructure investment.
The summit is a central pillar of Governor Sani’s broader strategy for industrialization and shared prosperity, predicated on the belief that reliable energy is a vital economic enabler.
Key Partnership and Investment
A primary highlight of the summit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ASI Engineering Limited.
This partnership aims to advance power sector reforms and rapidly expand existing energy infrastructure within the state.
Under the terms of the agreement:
Investment: Kaduna State will commit N15 billion.
Also, this investment secures a 5.54% direct equity stake in ASI Engineering Limited, and this translates to an indirect 4.13% stake in the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (Kaduna Electric).
“This investment is a deliberate step to secure Kaduna’s energy future, promote industrial growth, and enhance the livelihoods of our citizens,” Governor Sani stated following the signing.
However, the deal is expected to significantly improve Kaduna’s economic landscape by stabilizing the power supply for local industries and creating new jobs.
By participating directly in the value chain of its regional electricity provider, the Kaduna State Government is positioning itself to exert more influence over energy reliability and access.
Governor Sani’s proactive engagement at the London summit underscores the state’s commitment to strategic international partnerships and regional collaboration as the primary drivers for long-term development.
