The Kaduna State Government has announced the resumption of work on several strategic road projects in Rigasa, Igabi Local Government Area, following completion of the compensation payment plan for affected households.

During a road project inspection, the Managing Director of the Kaduna Roads Agency (KADRA), Dr. Abdullahi Baba Ahmed, said that about 189 households along Ado Gwaram, Maikera, Asma’u Makarfi, and Lokoja roads have been approved for compensation, with disbursements set to begin within days.

“His Excellency, Governor Senator Uba Sani (CON), directed that all properties on the road corridors be protected and that owners be adequately compensated.”

The compensation exercise has now been concluded, and the government has fully mobilized the contractor, CCECC, to return to the site. The government is not owing the contractor a dime,” Dr. Ahmed stated.

He emphasized that the only obstacle had been property compensation and the relocation of services such as water, electricity, and telephone lines, which have now been resolved.

“The contractor is back on site and will not demobilize until the projects are completed,” he added.

Dr. Ahmed called on residents to support the government’s efforts, noting that the roads are vital for linking communities to schools, hospitals, and businesses.

“These projects belong to the people. They are for their benefit, and we urge them to cooperate with us to deliver these infrastructures,” he said.

The road projects are part of a larger initiative by Governor Uba Sani, who has embarked on 140 road projects across Kaduna State, covering urban, rural, and semi-urban areas.

Dr. Ahmed highlighted that 66 of these road projects have already been completed, including the Gadan-Gayan, Gwaraji, Kujama Road, Pambeguwa–Kahutu–Kauru Road, Durum–Kuruntumawa Road, and Magajiya–Kasuwan Amaru and Audi–Kako Asphalt Roads in Zaria.

At the Kabala-Constain – Aliyu Makama Bridge, which links Kaduna South, Barnawa, and Kabala in Kaduna North, work is now 65% complete. “This project was inherited at 30% and has now reached 65%. We are extending the bridge for safety and economic reasons, and by God’s grace, it will be open for traffic before the rainy season,” Dr. Ahmed explained.

He assured residents that the administration’s goal is to deliver legacy projects that will last for generations. “His Excellency does not intend to leave any project abandoned. Every project initiated under this administration will be completed from A to Z,” he said.

When the team visited the Zangon to Ashibin Yara road reconstruction in Kaduna South LGA, the KADRA managing director said the road is
a vital artery expected to significantly enhance commercial activity and ease transportation across the region.

According to him, the project forms part of Governor *Uba Sani’s broader infrastructure development agenda, which aims to open up rural communities, reduce travel time, and create new economic opportunities for residents and traders alike.

He further explained that the road, once completed, will serve as a major link between farming communities and urban markets, allowing for faster movement of goods and services.

They noted that the current state of the road has long hindered trade and caused hardship for commuters, a challenge that the new project will permanently address.

Governor *Uba Sani*, whose administration has prioritized road infrastructure across urban and rural areas, reiterated his commitment to delivering projects that directly impact the lives of citizens. “This road is not just about transportation; it is about empowering our people, boosting trade, and ensuring that no community is left behind in our development agenda,” he stated.

Community leaders and residents have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a long-awaited intervention that will transform their livelihoods. Many expressed optimism that the improved road network will attract investors, reduce post-harvest losses for farmers, and create jobs for youths in the area.

Traders who regularly ply the route also expressed excitement, noting that the reconstruction will reduce travel costs and make it easier to transport goods to major markets. “We have been suffering for years on this road, but today we can see hope. This project will bring relief to our customers and us,” one trader remarked.

Citizens have already begun to appreciate the governor’s efforts. “We thank Governor Uba Sani for remembering our community. This road will bring development and ease our suffering,” said a resident, Mohamed Abubakar. Another resident, Amina Saidu, added, “This is a clear demonstration of leadership. Governor Uba Sani has shown that he cares about the masses, and we are grateful.”

When completed, the Zangon to Ashibiti Yara road is expected to become a catalyst for economic growth, strengthening Kaduna State’s position as a hub of commerce and connectivity.

The government has assured residents that the project will be delivered on schedule and to high-quality standards, in line with its commitment to sustainable development.

The Commissioner for Information, Ahmed Maiyaki, also spoke during the inspection, expressing gratitude to the government for its commitment to infrastructure development.

“We have never seen a government so committed to the people. This is a government for the talakawa (masses), and we are ready to support it,” he said.

A resident of Kabala, *Ibrahim Umar*, shared his excitement about the ongoing projects. “We are very happy. For years, we have been neglected, but now we see real development.

The quality of work, from drainage to road construction, is impressive. We are ready to support this government because it is working for the people,” he said.

With 1,335 kilometers of roads targeted for construction and rehabilitation, the Kaduna State Government’s road infrastructure drive is set to transform connectivity and economic activity across the state.
