The Kaduna State Government is seeking the expertise of professional bodies, including the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP), to enhance urban planning and development in the state.
Governor Uba Sani, represented by Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, made this known during a courtesy call by NITP to Sir Kashim Ibrahim House. ¹
The Governor emphasized that the state government has been making deliberate efforts to strengthen urban planning and land administration systems through ongoing reforms.
He noted that the administration is investing in infrastructure and urban renewal initiatives to improve citizens’ quality of life. “We recognize that government cannot do this alone. We need the expertise, guidance, and partnership of professional bodies such as yours,” Sani said.
Sani recalled the long history of collaboration between NITP and Kaduna State, citing the state’s 1913 development plan and master plans. He expressed hope that NITP members would continue to offer expert advisory and technical services on the impact of land use on social and economic development.
The Governor also mentioned that the World Bank Group has selected Kaduna State to lead the Nigerian Land Titling, Registration, and Documentation Program, and that a team from the World Bank and the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development recently visited to review the state’s land administration and governance.
Sani’s administration has been working to enhance transparency in land allocation, enforce development control regulations, and promote orderly urban expansion. The state has initiated over 140 road projects, covering 1,335 kilometers, with 64 roads already completed. ² ³
