The Kano Public Complaints and Anti Corruption Commission, PCACC, has rejected series of calls for the scrapping the Nation Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC.
Speaking on the International Ombuds Day 2024 organized by the Kano Public Complaints and Anti Corruption Commission with a Theme “Here To Hear You” the Chairman of the Commission, Barrister Muhyi Magaji Rimin-Gado, said the calls is nothing but a misdirected attacks on a critical agency helping the nation.
According to him, the call is unpatriotic by some unscrupulous elements with myopic thinking against the EFCC’s fight against corruption in the country.
He said, Nigeria needs to move forward in terms of services delivery, adding that “if there is anything the nation needs urgently is not the calls for the scrapping of any anti-graft agency,” he said.
On his achievements, Rimin-Gado said when When he came to the office in 2015, he met only 30 cases.
But, according to him, today the PCACC has over 1,300 cases with about 70 percent been duly prosecuted.
Barrister Muhyi, explained that, “just last week i recovered N30 million through mediation and we even paid for some expanses. This clearly tell you that the country needs this kind of Sub-national anti-graft agencies to support EFCC and others.
