From Ahmed Idris, Birnin Kebbi
Following his emergence as the new Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II has paid a visit to the Emir of Gwandu, in Kebbi state.
In his remarks, the new Emir said the relationship between the Gwandu Emirate dates back in history and that such kind of visit has been in existence since the reign of Sarkin Kano, Sulaiman.
He appealed to both emirates to continue to pray for the peace and security of the country.
In his welcome remarks, the Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Iliyasu Bashar, said: “We are Islamic leaders and not traditional rulers and we give thanks to Allah for the emergence of Sanusi,” he said.
While appealing to other contenders to believe in faith and accept the will of Allah in the emergence of Sanusi, he described Sanusi as a noble person, who has great respect for everybody irrespective of his background and faith.
He called on their subjects to continue to be loyal to leaders.
