Kano Hisbah arrests youth for public nudity

The Dala local government Hisbah command yesterday arrested a 19-year old young man for going naked in a broad daylight over betting of N1000 in Kofar Ruwa area.

Eye witness account said the boy, simply identified as Amadu of Kofar Ruwa area of Dala Local Government, broke into argument with some of his friends that he could not go unclad in the area and would be given N1000 should he dare so.

The account added that on sighting the money, the boy instantly removed his clothes and run the street through female students who were returning back from school.

“ As he was running naked on the street, his friends took his pictures with handsets and instantly uploaded the pictures on Facebook and Whatsapp, but the boy seemed out of his sense, “ the account said adding that, “one of Amadu’s friends tried to stop him from committing the act but the other friends overpowered him, forcing him to let the boy perform the illicit act.”

Speaking to our reporter, Amadu confessed the incident but denied that he run through the female students returning from school, adding that the incident happened in front of his friends only.

“ It was my friends that argued with me that I couldn’t go naked on this street. I then asked them for a bet and they dared me. But I regret my act. It is an act of the devil and I pledge not to commit

similar offence henceforth. But it is not true that I ran naked through the female students returning from school. I swear to God, that did not happen. It was after the incident that the girls passed by the street.”

When contacted, Deputy Commander, Dala Local Government Hisbah Command, Mallam Abubakar Muhammad Salihu, said “ We were baffled with what this boy committed. We never thought this act could be committed in the city of Kano. We have now arrested him and will hand him over to the State Hisbah Board, thereafter; they will take him to court.” He said.
