The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has strengthened its foothold in Kano State following the defection of several members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kumbotso Local Government Area ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The defectors, largely made up of young people, were formally received on Sunday by the Kano State Publicity Secretary of the NDC, Alhaji Yusuf Rabiu Fasaha, alongside the party’s Kumbotso State House of Assembly candidate, Captain Nafe.
The latest development is expected to bolster the NDC’s grassroots presence in the area as the new members pledged their commitment to the party’s ideals and electoral ambitions.
Addressing the gathering, Fasaha described the influx of new members as evidence of the party’s increasing appeal among young people in Kano. He assured the defectors that the NDC would provide them with equal opportunities to participate in the party’s activities and decision-making processes.
Also speaking, Captain Nafe urged the new members to begin mobilizing support across communities ahead of the 2027 elections, reaffirming the party’s commitment to youth empowerment and people-focused representation.
