Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has promised to establish a robust partnership with reputable private universities within and outside the country, aimed at achieving human capital development.
The governor made the disclosure on Monday at Kano Government House when he received in audience, the president of the Association of African Private Universities Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo.
In a statement by Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Yusuf described Prof. Gwarzo as an iconic entrepreneur in education who strives to promote tertiary education despite its low return on investment.
“The governor who appreciated the efforts of Prof. Gwarzo in his quest to provide affordable private university education, extended hands of partnership with the two Kano State owned universities,” part of the statement reads.
Earlier, Prof. Gwarzo said he visited the governor and his deputy to present the certificate of two additional private universities he secured (Franco-British American University, Kaduna and Canadian University of Nigeria, Abuja.
“This makes him to be a leading private university owner in Africa who operates four universities in Kano, Maradi, Kaduna and Abuja.
“The Edu-preneur also promised to support the two state owned universities to promote learning, character and research in a conducive atmosphere,” the statement concluded.
