From Uche Nnorom, Makurdi

An aide to immediate past Governor of Benue State Samuel Ortom has said his invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, is a routine procedure.
The aide who did not want his name in print said several petitions have been written against his boss which has to be responded to through his lawyer.
“It is not easy to react to the issues raised about 8 years administration. It is a tedious thing that you must be meticulous about. He is not under arrest. They will let go”, he said confidently.
It would be noted that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission invited the immediate past Govermot Samuel on Tuesday.
Ortom arrived at the Commission at exactly 10:08am with two(2) vehicles but only the one conveying him was allowed into the premises while the back up car parked inside Royal Choice Inn which is directly opposite the EFCC office. He was there for over 8 hours.
Peoples Daily Correspondent reported that there was unusual security around the Commission office as gun wielding policemen and EFCC officers mounted at the gate.
As at the time of filing this report, it wasn’t clear who petiitioned him to the anti-graft agency.
It was gathered that the former Chairman State Universal Basic Education Board, BSUBEB Joseph Utse who served under Ortom is in commission’s custody in Abuja for questioning.
